NESTLÉ USES SIEMENS TECNOMATIX PLANT SIMULATION TO DRIVE INNOVATION TRENDS

Nestlé is a well-known name in the food and beverage industry. Nestlé’s factory in Juuka, Finland, is recognized for producing high-quality stock bases, demi-glace sauces, and cheese products for chefs and restaurants. For those less familiar with the food sector, these products are essentially cooking and finishing sauces used in professional kitchens.

Producing high-quality sauces for demanding chefs and restaurants has become increasingly challenging as the Juuka factory has aged, plant performance has declined, and automation systems have become outdated over time. Modernizing a legacy facility at a remote location is a challenge, but with support from the Siemens Digital Enterprise portfolio, including Tecnomatix Plant Simulation, it quickly became a Nestlé success story.

With the Siemens Digital Enterprise portfolio, Nestlé’s plant was able to identify a comprehensive solution to digitize operations and take the next step in its digital transformation journey. Several digital twins were created to help streamline the project. One digital twin uses performance data collected from live plant operations and can be used to optimize processes and performance.

Another digital twin is a digital model of the factory used to simulate material flow throughout the plant. Using Tecnomatix Plant Simulation enables Nestlé to model, simulate, optimize, and validate various production scenarios and their associated processes.

Since implementing the Siemens Digital Enterprise portfolio and Tecnomatix Plant Simulation, Nestlé has established more sustainable production processes in Juuka and reduced wastewater and chemical consumption. Production has become more stable and reliable, with increased throughput, and optimized production planning processes have improved the plant’s overall manufacturing performance.
