DIGITAL FACTORY: AN INEVITABLE TREND FOR MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISES

Digital factory is becoming an inevitable trend for manufacturing enterprises to enhance global competitiveness in the context of rapidly developing technology.

Recently, SDE Vietnam in collaboration with Siemens Vietnam and BnK Solution organized a specialized workshop on ‘Digital Factory Solutions – Enhancing Global Competitiveness’.

The workshop shared new perspectives on product manufacturing management processes and presented specific technological solutions for enterprises to reference and apply in practice, aiming to restart production systems and adapt more flexibly in the digital transformation race.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc, CEO of SDE Vietnam, emphasized that automation technology solutions play a crucial role in the digitalization of manufacturing enterprises.

To digitalize, enterprises need a comprehensive overview of product lifecycle management processes, from ideation, design, and production operations to market launch. They must identify which stages of production should be digitalized first, thereby guiding business strategies and investing in appropriate technology solutions for their enterprises.

Automation technology solutions are increasingly crucial in the digitalization of manufacturing enterprises.

Accordingly, improving product manufacturing processes, streamlining production planning, and managing costs and production schedules are key stages where technological solutions can be applied for optimal efficiency.

Regarding barriers in improving production processes, Mr. Pham Van Ha, Head of Engineering at SDE Vietnam, noted that to accelerate production and improve product quality, enterprises need solutions to address design issues, data synchronization, inter-department interaction, and production process connectivity, ensuring products meet quality standards and market demands.

Specifically, the Teamcenter PLM solution (product lifecycle management system) provided by Siemens is a useful software, offering a platform that connects the entire production process chain, helping enterprises achieve business goals more easily, streamline operations, and maximize productivity.

Teamcenter can be applied across most mechanical and industrial fields, from advanced industries like aerospace, automotive, and electronics to consumer sectors.

For streamlined production planning and optimized operations, Mr. Ung Nhat Truong, Solution Expert from Siemens Vietnam, shared the Opcenter APS solution (Advanced Planning & Scheduling) at the workshop.

APS is an advanced production management system capable of optimally allocating materials and production capacity to balance demand with actual capabilities. This software is a breakthrough compared to traditional planning software.

The APS system seeks optimal solutions for the entire supply chain instead of focusing on individual isolated processes. It also provides a platform for collaboration between enterprises, suppliers, and customers, bringing enterprises closer to comprehensive optimization.

Another solution introduced at the workshop is Odoo ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) to manage costs and production schedules.

Odoo is an open-source software system that can be modified and customized according to the scale and needs of each enterprise.

Implementation costs for Odoo ERP are much lower than other software, particularly for Vietnamese enterprises, which face increasing pressure to better manage and utilize resources to compete in international integration while having limited budgets.

At the workshop, SDE Vietnam also provided analysis and assessments on production trends and digitalization, helping enterprises grasp and quickly adapt to new technological trends.
