VALUE BASED LICENSING IN NX CAM SOFTWARE
We are excited to introduce Value Based Licensing (Token Licensing), a new purchasing option that offers greater flexibility and a new way to deploy NX CAM software. This purchase option applies to more than 50 additional modules, allowing you to expand the capabilities of the core NX CAM seat and ensure you can fully leverage CNC programming for your specific applications.

If you don’t have time to watch the video, here is a summary:
- Purchased tokens by users become part of a token license pool.
- Each application in the token pool consumes a specific number of tokens when accessed.
- The total number of applications that can be used on the base application is limited by the number of available tokens.
- When a user logs out of NX, the tokens are released back to the pool, allowing others to start different software options. Token licensing can be combined and coordinated with traditional feature-based licensing. Third-party products are not available through Value Based Licensing.
- Users must first purchase the necessary base seat license(s) on which tokens can be activated.
- Value Based Licensing does NOT require Teamcenter or any other application beyond the base licenses mentioned here to operate.
- If used with other licenses, the licensing system will use the “non-token” license first before consuming tokens. The goal is to always keep as many tokens in the pool available as possible.
- Based on the number of purchased tokens, users can activate a certain number of software options.
- The system allows using any license that supports tokens if enough tokens are available.
- After the user exits the application, the tokens are returned to the pool.
Please note that the token system can only be used if the user has purchased the base seat license(s) that include one of the following floating licenses: NX CAM 2.5-Axis Milling, NX CAM Turning, NX CAD Mach 1, or Solid Edge Foundation and the licenses above.
The following base seats are NOT eligible for tokens:
- Node Locked Bundles
- Cloud-connected NX products
- CAM Articles
- Robotic CAM Articles
We currently offer two token packages, referred to as Value Packs:
- NX36100 – NX MFG Value Based Licensing 100
- NX36050 – NX MFG Value Based Licensing 50
