ParticleWorks is a mesh-free CFD fluid simulation software based on the MPS (Moving Particle Simulation) method, developed by Prometech Software (Japan) and built upon academic research from the University of Tokyo.
The software accurately simulates complex phenomena such as free-surface flows, splashing, oil jets, sloshing, cooling, mixing, multiphase flows, and multiphysics interactions. It is widely adopted by leading Japanese manufacturers, including Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Denso, and others.
KEY FEATURES
1. Mesh-Free Fluid Simulation (Mesh-less CFD)
Based on the MPS (Moving Particle Simulation) method, fluids are modeled using computational particles instead of meshes. This completely eliminates the mesh generation process, which is time-consuming and highly dependent on engineer expertise. The approach is ideal for flows with large deformations, splashing, free-surface behavior, and continuous phase separation and merging.

2. Advanced Free-Surface Simulation
Phenomena such as splashing water, oil jets, sloshing, and open-domain flows are simulated in a highly natural and stable manner. Particles can freely separate, merge, and exit the simulation domain without causing numerical instability. The solver maintains high stability even under severe free-surface deformation conditions, such as gear churning and water ingress scenarios.

3. Fast and Intuitive Simulation Setup
Directly utilizes native CAD geometry without requiring geometry simplification. Simulation setup—including particle size, fluid regions, and boundary conditions—can be completed in just a few steps. Mechanical engineers can operate the software efficiently without in-depth CFD expertise.
4. Multi-Phase Simulation: Oil – Water – Air – Solids
Accurately simulates phase separation, mixing, oil jets, water ingress, air bubbles, and cavitation (at a simplified level). No remeshing is required even under large fluid motion or complex multi-phase interactions. Ideal for applications such as gearboxes, e-motor cooling, food mixing, and chemical processing.
5. Multi-Resolution Capability – Variable Particle Size by Region
Enables local refinement by reducing particle size in critical areas such as narrow gaps, e-motor windings, or oil inlets. Achieves an optimal balance between accuracy and simulation speed. Significantly reduces total particle count while maintaining high resolution in sensitive regions.
6. GPU Acceleration – Support for up to 8× NVIDIA A100 GPUs
Particle-based methods are inherently well-suited for parallel computation, enabling near-linear scaling with the number of GPUs. Delivers 6–10× speedup compared to 128-core CPU systems (based on vendor benchmarks). Allows large-scale simulations with 8–20 million particles to be completed within hours.
ParticleWorks is widely applied across a wide range of industries.
