WHAT’S NEW IN HYBRID MODELLING IN SOLID EDGE 2022?

Easily Create Hybrid Models

Hybrid modeling is a convergent modeling enhancement that can shorten model development time. But what does convergent modeling mean? Convergent refers to the use of Siemens’ proprietary Parasolid kernel technology, which is integrated into Solid Edge. Convergent modeling seamlessly combines traditional b-rep solid models with faceted or surface models without requiring time-consuming and error-prone conversions.

Convergent modeling is an important technology because the 3D digital design environment often combines both types of models, as well as scanned models and shared design data. Scanned components, which are entirely made from surface models and were previously incompatible with b-rep modeling tools in CAD systems, can now be directly used. Convergent modeling allows existing facet bodies to participate in b-rep modeling operations without translation.

Meshes coexist within the same model for downstream assembly use, speeding up workflows and making faceted models more useful. Eliminating the need to convert between mesh and b-rep geometry reduces model development time. Solid Edge 2022 supports hybrid models during translation, drawing creation, and assembly modeling.
